Gideon’s Bakehouse calls out cookie resellers

Gideon's Bakehouse

Gideon’s Bakehouse calls out cookie resellers and for good reasons! We here at Chip and Co love Gideon’s. We are self-professed Gidiots, meaning when they put something new out we will run out and try it. Moreover, they have not put out a bad cookie or cake yet. Yes, the lines can be very long, and now that Disney Springs has done away with some of the enhanced safety measures, even longer.

Steve the owner of Gideon’s Bakehouse has taken to Facebook as well as Instagram to explain why resellers and shipping are not good for business at this time. You can read the whole post below. In it, Steve goes onto explain why shipping is bad, why a cookie might “Bloom”. Also why personal shoppers might be skirting laws due to the FDA. Keep reading to find out why.

????????: I’m grateful beyond measure that people from all over the world ask so regularly about shipping, but most of you here know we don’t ship desserts. Why? Gideon’s is a legit local bakery making everything by hand from scratch. We have a hardworking staff and a 4,000 square foot production kitchen that barely meets the relentless demand of two little Orlando locations. A national audience would crush us. Additionally, quality is more important to me than extra sales, and our desserts aren’t fond of shipping. They are free from added preservatives and not nearly as good shipped as they are fresh. You deserve our best.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

?????????: A growing weekly problem has been “personal shopping” services advertising my cookies for sale, shipped to your home. This is an issue because A) see above and our product is not packaged to meet FDA regulations for shipping. Most resellers are super cool and pull their listing on websites and Facebook groups once they realize they’re violating our preorder user agreement. Some, however, are less than honest with both you and me. Please avoid these services. A MASSIVE thank you to everyone that has our back and alerts me to these posts.

????????: When chocolate starts to turn white, that is called blooming. It’s purely cosmetic and safe to eat but not super pretty. To minimize this, please avoid exposing the cookies to varying temperatures. This is especially important if you want to keep your Gideon’s desserts in tip-top shape on hot and humid Florida days, aka most of the year.

???????? ??????’? ?? ?????? ???????: With restrictions lifting, we’re getting even busier. Be sure to check the Disney Springs part of our website for a continually updated “Things to Know” section to help you plan your visit!
