Producer Jon Favreau Will Not Oversee the ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi‘ Disney+ Star Wars Series. Though Star Wars fans have come to know Favreau as having the Midas Touch in the Star Wars Universe, but it seems Favreau’s attention is going to stay on The Mandalorian and directly associated projects while other filmmakers take the reins for additional Star Wars series such as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Executive Producer and series star, Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) recently shared during a charity event that Favreau would not be directly involved with the production team, but one of The Mandalorian directors, Deborah Chow, will be spearheading the project. McGregor shared, “No, Deborah Chow is directing ours and she directed two episodes of the first Mandalorian series, and she’s brilliant and I’m really looking forward to working with her.”
It’s been widely known that Deborah Chow would be directing the series, but this was the first official word on Favreau’s absence from the team. Currently, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor, Tracey Seaward (The Queen), John Swartz (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy will act as Executive Producers for the series.
Currently, the series stars Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan, with Hayden Christensen returning as Darth Vader for the limited series. Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere exclusively on Disney+ at a to be determined date and has begun filming in Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire.
