See ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’ Again with New VR Experience. The Disney Parks are full of iconic attractions and rides that are enjoyed for generations. In true Disney fashion the Disney Parks continue to stick to Walt Disney’s idea of “Keep Moving Forward” and sometimes even the most nostalgic rides get reimagined or removed all together to make way for new and exciting things.
One such casualty of time and progress is Disney World’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Submarine Voyage. The ride was unexpectedly closed down in 1994 then in 1996 Walt Disney World Resort permanently closed the attraction to make way for new attractions now featured on New Fantasyland.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is still available in Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland in Anaheim, CA currently hosts a reimagined version of the Submarine Voyage with a Finding Nemo overlay. Recently, Defunctland VR shared a new video featuring the cue and ride through of the original attraction.
