La Princesa Maria got her royal wish granted with the help of Make-a-Wish and Princess Belle!
While the pandemic has make it difficult for Disney and Make-a-Wish to grand wishes involving traveling, it hasn’t stopped them from bringing magic with wish kids like Maria.
A 6 year old, native Spanish speaker from Phoenix, AZ who is currently being treated for leukemia. Her wish was to be a princess! And with a little bit of magic, her wish came true.
Maria got a royal makeover, with a Belle dress and crown, looking totally beautiful! And she even got a Belle doll and a message from a special princess just like her.
What made the message even more special was that it was in Spanish! Maria was so happy to see Belle talking in her native language, it made her feel like Belle was just like her.
“She loved the video and we thought it was truly beautiful. Their words, everything they said, it was exactly how Maria is” said wish mom Brenda.
Maria, like many other children around the world, grew up watching Disney movies in her native language, so when it came to making her wish come true, Disney wanted to do it entirely in Spanish!
“Just as Disney stories are shared in dozens of languages around the world, Make-a-Wish grants wishes for children of all backgrounds” said Richard K. Davis, president and CEO of Make-a-Wish America.
Disney and Make-a-Wish have been granting wishes for kids with critical illnesses around the world since 1980, and this year the foundation is celebrating 40 years of making wishes come true!
