Worker falls to his death on Starflyer attraction in Orlando

A man working on the Orlando StarFlyer attraction located at International Drive tourist corridor has fallen to his death. The 21-year old man was a employee performing routine maintenance on the attraction.

Orange County Fire Rescue officials reported the fatal accident around 7:40 AM today at ICON Park on I-Drive. The worker had been 200 feet up performing a safety check when he fell. He was in the process of climbing the StarFlyer tower when the unfortunate accident took place. No details are available yet as to what led to the fall. Officials say he was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The spinning swing ride goes to a height of 450 feet.

Being the world’s tallest swing ride, it’s a unique attraction that appeals to both young and old, the adventurous and not so adventurous. Guests are seated in a double seat next to their friend, family or partner and are secured in their seats with seat belts and an in between the legs harness that can only be unlocked by the ride operator. Moving up and down and rotating around the giant tower at speeds of up to 45mph.
