The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has cleared the crews on Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wonder and Disney Dream to disembark the ships in the US and use commercial transportation to return to their homes.
The CDC has been using a new ranking system for ships and after being at the “Provisionally Green” status for two weeks, the Disney Wonder and Disney Dream were moved to “Green” today.
This status means that the ships have had no confirmed cases of COVID-19 or COVID-like illness for 28 days. In addition, ship-to-ship transfers must have come from a ship that had no confirmed cases of COVID-19 or COVID-like illness for 28 days.
The Disney Fantasy and the Disney Magic are both in Europe so the CDC is no longer tracking them.
While waiting for CDC approval, the Disney Wonder and Disney Dream have been shuffling crew, then visiting ports in Mexico and the Caribbean in an attempt to get crew members home or to airports that would take them home.
Now crew members on those ships can disembark at US ports and use commercial transportation to take them home. This approval is not an indication that ships can resume passenger operations. The CDC still has a “No Sail” order in place through September 30, 2020.
