Earlier we reported that Walt Disney World Resort hotel Cast Members will be returning to work this month. It’s now being announced that Disney is bringing back thousands of Cast Members.
Local union leader, Eric Clinton, updated his members this week with new details on how Disney will begin to deploy its staff again. According to the union, Disney full-time attractions and custodian workers will be called back to work this month.
Union members who work at water parks or other closed Disney World properties could transfer to other jobs where there are shortages. About 8,000 members from Clinton’s union could be called back to work.
Clinton explained that Disney is in need of employees to help maintain cleanliness and safety around the parks — including cleaning around ride queues and on the attractions, cleaning popular areas such as handrails, as well as to help maintain social distancing throughout the theme parks and in the queue lines.
Eric Clinton was not aware of what attractions would be reopening with the parks. “What we do know is there’s going to be a massive need for attractions workers across property. … There’s going to be a lot of work that needs to be done,” Clinton shared.
Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom parks are scheduled to reopen July 11 with Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopening July 15.
