'Black Widow' to Release in the UK Earlier Than the US

‘Black Widow’ to Release in the UK Earlier Than the US. Marvel Fans in the UK were surprised to hear the high anticipated Black Widow film will first premiere in the UK 10 days before the scheduled release in the US. Normally, Marvel Studios choses to release bigger titles in a worldwide setting, but the delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic forced the film to be moved back 6 months.

Black Widow will premiere in the UK on October 28, 2020. The film was originally slated to premiere on May 1st in the US, but has been moved back to November 6, 2020, pushing other Marvel titles such as Eternals to further dates in 2021.

“She has such a rich backstory,” shared Marvel Studios CCO Kevin Feige in an interview with Comicbook. “We’ve hinted at it throughout all the other films. But we approach it in a completely unexpected way. She’s been up to a lot all along – in between when we see her in the other movies – some of which will be surprising to people.”

“It’s a film about self-forgiveness and it’s a film about family,” Scarlett Johansson said. “I think in life we sort of come of age many times and you have these kind of moments where you’re in a transitional phase and then you move sort of beyond it and I think in the Black Widow standalone film I think the character is at, when we find her, a moment of real crisis, and throughout the film, by facing herself in a lot of ways and a lot of things that make her, her, she actually kind of comes through that crisis on the other side and we start to be able to reset where she’s a more grounded, self-possessed person. So that’s her journey, well, I hope anyway.”

“At birth the Black Widow (aka Natasha Romanova) is given to the KGB, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative. When the U.S.S.R. breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action moves to present-day New York, where she is a freelance operative.”

We are glad to see that Marvel’s Black Widow will get to premiere in theaters! Though some may be upset about the delay, it makes total sense to move back the release dates to keep fans both happy AND healthy. We can’t wait to see Black Widow when it hits theaters this Fall.
