Karen Gillan is being eyed as lead for upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean Movie

Doctor Who and Marvel Actress Karen Gillan is being eyed as the lead for upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean Movie according to DisInsider.

The upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie is going the reboot route and Disney is eying her for the lead role.

While nothing is official as of yet, it is proposed that she plays the character Redd the popular character from the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Disney picked Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and Ted Elliot, who wrote the previous Pirates films, to point the franchise in a new direction. Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman (Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure) are set to produce the film.

No word on if Johnny Depp will be coming back for the next Pirates film, but I sure hope he does!
