An esteemed member of the Pixar company has passed away. Rob Gibbs worked for Pixar for over 20 years. He served as a story artist, writer, and director for the company. Rob Gibbs passed away at age 55.
The Legacy of Rob Gibbs
He contributed to many Pixar projects in his time at the company. A list of some of the Pixar movies he contributed to include Monsters Inc., Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo, Up, Wall-E, Inside Out, and Onward.
Rob joined Pixar in 1998 and started his career there as a storyboard artist for Toy Story 2. His daughter Mary has provided the voice of Boo in Monsters Inc. related projects.
His love for Popeye and Looney Tunes cartoons as a kid is what inspired his to pursue a career in animation. He was born in Escondido, California. Rob attended both Palomar College and CalArts.
Before Pixar, he worked on other noteworthy Disney animated projects such as Pocahontas, Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue, and Fantasia 2000.
He was currently working on preproduction of Hump, which is an upcoming Pixar movie starring voice actors Simon Pegg and Gaten Matarazzo. Rob’s last completed project is the upcoming Monsters at Work series for the Disney+ streaming service.
