'The Princess Bride' is Coming to Disney+

‘The Princess Bride’ is Coming to Disney+. As you wish, Disney is adding The Princess Bride to Disney+!

“While home sick in bed, a young boy’s grandfather reads him the story of a farmboy-turned-famous-pirate who encounters numerous obstacles, enemies and allies in his quest to be reunited with his one true love. The Princess Bride is a fairy tale adventure about a beautiful young woman and her only love thought to be lost at sea. Together they must battle the evils of the mythical kingdom of Florin to be reunited and live happily ever after and discover true friendship along the way. The 1987 film is based on the popular William Goldman novel “The Princess Bride”.”

In a shared video call, Cary Elwes (Wesley) and Robin Wright (Buttercup) shared the good news via Twitter with Disney fans today and that the fan-favorited film will begin streaming via Disney+ on May 1st.

Disney+ had reportedly been surveying subscribers about “more mature” content on the streaming service and it seems they are choosing to move forward with some of the titles. Other titles that were polled by subscribers include: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Malcolm in the Middle, Firefly, Modern Family, Black-ish, and How I Met Your Mother. There is no word yet if Disney will chose to add these titles and other 20th Century Fox films and series, but in my humble opinion, they chose the best title to start with!

We are thrilled to hear The Princess Bride will be joining the Disney+ roster and the iconic film has already been a staple in our household, but now it will be even easier to watch!
