Alan Menken Confirms Disney’s Live-Action ‘The Little Mermaid‘ Soundtrack Is Complete. Rosie O’Donnell recently hosted a live-stream called: “The Rosie O’Donnell Show LIVE!” to raise money for The Actors Fund. O’Donnell had many celebrity guests who appeared via live-stream to the show and raised over $500,000 for the charity. One such celebrity included famed composer, Alan Menken.

Menken appeared roughly an hour into the stream and shared the news that not only is the soundtrack recorded and completed for Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid, but there will be four new songs featured in the film co-composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Moana, Hamilton), one of them rumored to be a solo for Prince Eric (Jacob Tremblay).

Menken also shared that he is working on the Enchanted sequel soundtrack for Disney and adapting Hercules to be a stage musical (Possibly on Broadway? Hmmm).

We can’t wait to see the new live-action The Little Mermaid when it comes to theaters!

The Little Mermaid is about Princess Ariel, a mermaid and daughter to King of the Sea, King Triton. Ariel falls in love with a human prince after saving him from a shipwreck and dreams of spending a life with him out of the sea. After her father refuses to allow Ariel to be with the man she loves, she turns to the Sea Witch, Ursula, to help her meet Prince Eric so he can meet the woman with the beautiful voice that saved his life and hopefully fall in love with her too. Ursula deceives Ariel and tricks her into giving away her voice for a pair of human legs. The Sea Witch then uses the stolen voice to enchant Prince Eric and steal him away from Ariel and collect on their contract. To save Ariel, King Triton sacrifices himself and together Prince Eric and Ariel defeat the evil Sea Witch and save the day.”
