‘Avatar‘ Sequels Have Stopped Filming Due to Coronavirus Concerns. The film and television industries are taking a hit with the growing concern over the spread of COVID-19, aka coronavirus. To help keep casts and crews healthy, Disney and affiliated studios such as Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Pixar, and Fox Studios, have stopped production on several titles that are currently in production or pre-production.
Producer Jon Landau spoke with The New Zealand Herald and shared the current status of the Avatar sequels currently in the works, “We’ve delayed it. We had plans to come down Friday night with a group of people and start back up and we made the decision to hold off and continue working here [Los Angeles], and come down there a little bit later than we’d planned. If I told you we are going to know something in two weeks I’d be lying. I might not be wrong – even a broken clock is right twice a day. But I would be lying because I don’t know…We’re in the midst of a global crisis and this is not about the film industry. I think everybody needs to do now whatever we can do, as we say here, to flatten the [coronavirus] curve.”

- Shrunk
- Peter Pan & Wendy
- Home Alone Reboot
- The Last Duel
- Nightmare Alley
- Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings (Marvel)
- Avatar 2-5 (Fox)
- The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Marvel/Disney+)
- Loki (Marvel/Disney+)
- WandaVision (Marvel/Disney+)
Movies currently getting rescheduled due to movie theater closures:
- Black Widow
- The New Mutants
- Antlers
It is currently unknown if other titles such as Indiana Jones 5, Willow series, Artemis Fowl, and other projects under the Disney umbrella, will see a similar fate in the near future. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Disney!
