‘Indiana Jones 5’ Is Confirmed To NOT Be A Reboot. During to 2020 BAFTA’s, BBC News spoke with Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy about Star Wars, The Studio, and the new Indiana Jones film set to begin filming very soon. Kennedy was asked if the sequel would be a reboot for the franchise, or a continuation of Indy’s story, as presented by Harrison Ford.
Kathleen shared that the film will not be a reboot, but will continue with Indy as we know him. “Harrison Ford will be involved. He can’t wait,” Kennedy shared with BBC News.
Harrison Ford himself had said previously that “Nobody is going to be Indiana Jones,” Ford stated when asked about the potential of a successor to the role. “Don’t you get it? I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy.”
Director Stephen Spielberg seconded the actor and firmly stated, “There is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones and that’s Harrison Ford.”
Disney Chairman, Alan Horn, put the final nail in the coffin of the rumor that Harrison was being replaced by sharing, “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
The currently untitled Indiana Jones 5 is set to premiere in theaters July 10, 2021. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Lucasfilm!
