Today Disney + European launch date and price has been announced! Disney + will be launched in Europe a week earlier than planned to March 24th! The price has also been released, Disney + will cost £5.99/€6.99 ($8) per month, or £59.99/€69.99 for an annual subscription. On March 24th, Disney + will be available in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland. After that, additional Western Europe countries such as Belgium, the Nordic countries and Portugal will follow in Summer 2020!
Disney + contains content from not just Disney, Pixar and Marvel but also from Star Wars and National Geographic including the highly raved about The Mandalorian, as well as High School Musical: The Series, The World According to Jeff Goldblum, and the reboot of Lady and the Tramp, alongside other original movies!
Whilst we are unsure as to why Disney have moved the date forward from the original date March 31st, we know our European fans will not be complaining! Disney + has taken the World by storm so far, as it clocked 10 million subscribers in its first day. Disney has projected 60-90 million subs worldwide by 2024 and will spend more than $1BN on original content in 2020, which will increase to $2.5 BN by 2024.
The United Kingdom Netflix subscription service basic package is £5.99/month, therefore Disney + is already setting itself to be highly competitive from the start!
