With a ”pop!” of color and a ”pop!” of flavor, the new Rainbow Push Pop at Animal Kingdom is a treat that Disney vacationers won’t want to miss. Recently spotted at the Walt Disney World Resort, this new dessert is part of a subtle new trend in Disney treats: push pop cakes!
A push pop cake is reminiscent of the push pop sherbet treats all 90s kids adored, except there’s no ice cream in sight, just cake! These haven’t dominated the dessert world in the same way that monster shakes and cupcakes have, but there has been a steady increase in their popularity in recent years. Not only was there a Mickey Push Pop at Cosmic Ray’s in the Magic Kingdom earlier this year, but Jack Skellington’s Cake Push Pop is making a return at this year’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
Potentially the most Instagram-worthy treat to hit Thirsty River Bar and Trek Snacks in a long time, the Rainbow Push Pop is made up of layers of colorful cake, creating a rainbow effect through the clear casing. All of the cakes are a strawberry flavor, but not to worry for those who prefer cakey rather than fruity desserts, it is not an overpowering taste. The overall effect is much more like a cake pop where frosting and sweetness are dominant. In fact, anyone who has had a push pop at Walt Disney World before will tell you that all of them are divinely moist. No fear of dry cake here!
The Rainbow Push Pop is $4.99 before tax and is suitable for one guest (or two if you don’t have a sweet tooth). It’s a great deal considering the rising prices of many popular snacks across the parks. Check it out at Animal Kingdom before it becomes extinct!
