Take a look at what each pin symbolizes below:
1 – The Skeleton Dance (90 years)
Walt Disney and his artists created the Silly Symphonies to experiment with new animation techniques. The Skeleton Dance was one of seven cartoons that went on to win Best Cartoon at the Academy Awards!
2 – Donald Duck (85 years)
Walt Disney said it best when it came to our favorite duck, “Donald is a very outrageous fellow, with bad manners and a worse temper, and everyone is fond of him, including myself.”
3 – Marvel Comics (80 years)
From its start in 1939 to present day, Marvel has created over 5,000 heroes and villains. Iconics like Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Captain America can all be seen on the big screen, small screen, and in the theme parks.
4 – Disneyland Television Series (65 years)
Walt Disney’s first scheduled television series, Disneyland, debuted in 1954 and went on to help finance the place we all know and love today. The series premier introduced the crazy idea of “the happiest place on Earth” and won the Emmy Award for Best Variety series.
5 – Haunted Mansion (50 years)
After sitting untouched for nearly a decade, the Haunted Mansion finally opened its doors in 1969 with the invention of the Omnimover technology that now powers the Doom Buggies. Now several versions of this classic are brimming with happy haunts around the globe.
6 – The Muppet Movie (40 years)
Jim Henson’s creations came to the big-screen 1979 with the first of seven Muppet movies. Kermit’s road trip from the swamp to Hollywood was a smash success. His classic song “Rainbow Connection” is one of the most iconic songs in film history.
7 – Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (35 years)
Indiana Jones travels from the streets of Shanghai to the depths of the foreboding Pankot Palace on a quest to recover the sacred Sankara Stones. Released in 1984, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg partner together in the film that features boopy traps, creepie-crawlies, and groundbreaking special effects.
8 – The Little Mermaid (30 years)
The Little Mermaid won two Academy Awards (best original score and best song for “Under the Sea”) after its premier in 1989. With music from Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, Ariel, Ursula, Scuttle, and Sebastian prove that a Disney fairy-tale musical will never go out of style!
9 – The Twilight Zone™ Tower of Terror (25 years)
The Hollywood Tower Hotel reopened its doors at Hollywood Studios in 1994 for the first time since 1939. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is a thrill ride with an elaborate and chilling backstory. No wonder other versions of the attraction have “dropped” into Anaheim, Tokyo, and Paris.
10 – Up (10 years)
10 years ago, Pixar Animation Studios released the quirky masterpiece Up. With loveable characters like Carl, Ellie, Russel, and Doug, it’s no surprise that this film went on to win 2 Academy Awards with a nomination for Best Picture.
