Few Disney characters are as wonderfully iconic as Tinker Bell. That is why we are sad to share the news that the model that served as the inspiration for this character, Ginni Mack, passed away recently at the age of 90.
Though she will largely be remembered for Tink, Ginni also made a longstanding contribution to The Walt Disney Company where she was working as an Ink and Paint Artist when she was discovered by animator Marc Davis and approached about being the model for Tinker Bell. According to an obituary appearing in Attractions Magazine, Ginni started working for The Walt Disney Company at the age of 18 and made a contribution to several of the post- World War II era Disney films.
Mack went on to leave the Company in 1958 to create an animation studio with her husband Brice Mack only to return in 1977 as Paint Supervisor where she worked on productions like Pete’s Dragon. She continued to work for the company until 1991 and even played a role in testing and developing Disney’s Computer Animation Production System.
