Plans to replace Disney Spring’s DisneyQuest with a new basketball-themed experience was announced back in January on Disney Parks Blog. This week it appears that Disney is moving forward in that direction.
DisneyQuest closed on July 3 after 13 years of operation at Walt Disney World Resort. Just two weeks after the last day of operation a “Notice of Commencement” was filed on July 17. The permit noted a description of work to be completed as “Demo of Structure.” In addition to the filing of the permit last week, a construction wall now surrounds the area. It looks like progress is well underway.
The NBA Experience is expected to be at least one of the new activities to occupy this area. According to Disney Parks Blog “the NBA Experience will be a one-of-a-kind basketball-themed experience featuring hands-on activities that put guests of all ages right in the middle of NBA game action. There will be immersive NBA video productions and numerous interactive experiences, as well as a restaurant and a retail store.”
No anticipated opening date has been announced yet. Check back with Chip and Company for construction updates.
