With the recent previews of Pandora – The World of Avatar, there has been a growing concern that some guests may have challenges fitting on the new Avatar Flight of Passage attraction. We are happy to share with you that Disney has revealed a Test Seat that will be available at the entrance of the ride. At today’s Press Event for the Grand Opening of Pandora the World of Avatar, Chip of Chip and Co. got a firsthand look at how guests can try out the seat before entering the attraction.
Also, available at the entrance of the attraction is informational signage for guests utilizing wheelchairs. The attraction signage shows photos of how guests can transfer from a wheelchair to the Link Chair.
Chip had the opportunity to speak with a Disney Marketing representative for more information on these two new attractions:
Here’s a look at other sights at the entrance to the attraction:

I was there Monday and the man next to me couldn’t ride. It was because his legs were to long to have everything fasten him in. We were told there most of the problems were with taller people. Amazing ride.
I am 5’3″ and 350+lbs and was sure that I would have trouble riding, but I rode last week with no trouble. A man next to me who was probably around 6′ and had a much larger belly than I do was also able to ride (after a bit of CM shoving on the back restraint), so I don’t think it is going to be as big an issue as people had originally reported. It looks like the CMs are getting better at coaching people though the link chair process as well. When I rode the 3rd time during my preview, the CM had to come and press the back restraint to make it click one more time (I think since I had already ridden twice, I got too comfortable and didn’t scoot forward as much), and she suggested to sit up straight with my shoulders back and hips forward. It seems like they are really trying to make this ride accessible and to work through all the kinks of the early preview. I know that they want to show off this great new ride as much as we want to ride it, so don’t just assume you won’t be able to ride or won’t fit or whatever. Try it out, if only in the test seat, and you might be pleasantly surprised! 🙂
I had the chance to ride this over the weekend on the pass holder preview. I’m 6’4″ and right around 300lbs and was able to fit no problem. I rode it 7 times in all and not once seen anyone not be able to ride. It looks as though Disney may have made some sort of adjustment to allow more body sizes because I didn’t have any issue at all.
I will probably not be able to fit, but at least i can see before wasting all that time in line.
i hate that this ride isn’t available to everyone – i do however love that they added a test seat, but, it looks to be in the open where everyone can see you – which i do not like! do they have the restraints on this test seat to see if you truly can fit?
I think this is really crappy. I have waited 2 long years for this ride only to find out that fluffy people cant fit. I have never had a problem with rides at Disney World.
