We love a leisurely dinner, but when we want one more drop on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure park or on the Matterhorn Bobsleds in Disneyland park, we look for a quick bite. But we still want delicious.
Here are our favorites, tell us yours!
If we’re dashing between parks, we go slightly out of our way for a slice of pizza from the wood-burning ovens at Napolini at Downtown Disney – easy to eat and stroll back to the parks.
Our hands-down favorite in Disneyland park is Rancho del Zocalo in Frontierland: the Citrus Fire-grilled chicken, the chicken Caesar salad, the tres leches cake. A close second is the new fried green tomato sandwich at Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country. Or the tried-and-true French Market in New Orleans Square, where we always order the Plantation Citrus Chicken, a roasted chicken breast with secret citrus and Cajun spices with smashed potatoes, veggies and a hunk of cheddar corn bread.
At Disney California Adventure park we’re partial to the choice of hot dogs at Award Wieners, or if we’re waiting for Soarin’ Over California, we dash into Taste Pilot’s Grill for messy ribs and fries or a fresh salad with grilled chicken breast if we’re behaving. Easy walk-around food is on the menu at Lucky Fortune Cookery, where we love the chicken with Thai coconut curry with a side of edamame to share. If we just want a sandwich for the road, Baker’s Field Bakery will wrap up a roast beef, ham or turkey.
And we admit it, we love the giant roasted turkey legs – and recommend sharing. Don Toma’s at Paradise Pier at Disney California Adventure park and Edelweiss Snacks in Fantasyland in Disneyland park are dependable stops for the massive meat fix – we always feel a little silly, but hey, indulge.
