During an announcement of expansion plans at Coronado Springs Resort Disney has indicated some exciting changes will be coming to Caribbean Beach Resort as well. Height test balloons were spotted over the resort in the fall of 2016 so this isn’t a complete surprise. Details are limited but here is what we know. Centertown, the resort’s marketplace will expand with new waterfront dining and retail shopping areas. Expanding this area will provide the guests with more convenient access to all the resort has to offer.
Permits that have been filed for the project show the addition of 7 new buildings. One of the buildings is a large multi level building, which will be home to a large number of guest rooms. It is still unclear if Disney’s Vacation Club will be part of the expansion at Caribbean Beach Resort. The new large building will occupy the current Barbados village area of the resort. There are also some changes planned for retention ponds and roadways.
Work at Caribbean Beach Resort will begin this year and be complete in 2019.
Disney has confirmed that Martinique and Barbados islands will be unavailable as of May 2017.
