Comcast recently purchased an area of land which is roughly the size of four Magic Kingdom theme parks (474 acres) and is now seeking approval for theme park zoning for this undeveloped property. The land was purchased for a price of 130 million dollars and is near Universal Boulevard. The land is now home to cow pastures and vacant farmland.
The theme park zoning would give Comcast the opportunity to turn the land into a theme park, or two, and still leave room for a resorts and shopping. This follows suite with the Volcano Bay expansion Universal Studios has been working on and is expected to open in 2017.
It is unclear as of now what Comcast will do with this new land but with all the additions to Universal I am excited to see what is next.
What do you think Comcast will be doing with this land? What are you hoping for? Comment below!
