The Sunburst has been dismantled at Sunshine Plaza at the center of the Disney California Adventure entrance, and the Carthay Circle Theatre replica will be built in it’s place.
The Carthay Circle Theatre is a tribute to the landmark that used to show Silly Symphony cartoons and the first full-length feature, Snow White in the late 1920’s and 30’s.
A menu and interior are still to be decided upon where there will be a restaurant and lounge inside the building. “Walt’s Cafe” and “Carthay Circle Steakhouse” are the names on a model of the building. No theater is planned for the project.
They are setting this as part of the entrance for Buena Vista Street back in the days when Walt Disney arrived to start his studio career as part of their $1 billion makeover of California Adventure to be complete in 2012.
