Maureen O’Hara passed away at age 95. She passed away in her sleep at home in Boise, Idaho. She was in many movies and Disney classics, like “The Parent Trap”. “She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family as they celebrated her life listening to music from her favorite movie, ‘The Quiet Man,'” said a statement from her family.
She arrived in Hollywood and starred in “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and that was only the beginning of an amazing career. She was known as the Queen of Technicolor because of her red hair and pale skin.
She has starred in many movies and won awards. Most notably on November 4, 2014 she was honored by a very long overdue Oscar for “Lifetime Achievement” at the annual Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Governors Awards.
Some of the movies she starred in include:
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame as Esmeralda in 1939
- The Black Swan in 1942
- Miracle on 34th Street in 1947
- Rio Grande in 1950
- The Quiet Man in 1952
- The Parent Trap in 1961
- Most recently, The Last Dance in 2000
She was married 3 times and had one child. She is survived by her daughter, Bronwyn FitzSimons of Glengarriff, Ireland; her grandson, Conor FitzSimons of Boise and 2 great-grandchildren.
