Following up on the Top 5 places for breakfast along the monorail, let’s move on to lunch! When the high noon heat is at its worst, it is a great idea to hop on the monorail and try one of these great places for a delicious lunch. A quick ride to one of the 3 monorail resorts will offer you plenty of options for all appetites! These restaurants are easy to get to from the Magic Kingdom and will leave you with plenty of time to hop right back on the monorail and get back to the park in time for the afternoon Festival of Fantasy Parade! This is a list of my top 5 options for lunch along the monorail loop.
5. Captain Cook’s : Ok, so I may be going out on a limb here suggesting a quick service spot in a top 5, however, in my opinion there is no better place to relax than at the Polynesian Village Resort. As soon as you step off the monorail, you will feel like you are worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the Magic Kingdom. The tranquil, tropical setting instantly puts you in a great mood and just downstairs from the monorail station is Captain Cook’s. This place may surprise you with the variety of lunch options available! Items like Thai Coconut Meatballs over Rice, Pulled Pork Nachos and the Big Kahuna Sandwich are all amazing (yes, I have had almost everything on this menu!). Eat inside the air conditioned dining area or take your meal outside and sit under the palm trees overlooking Volcano Pool. you can even head to the beach and eat your sandwich in a hammock while swaying in the breeze! Have I mentioned that I love the Polynesian Village Resort? Adult beverages are also available and the kids menu is fantastic!
4.The Wave: Located inside the Contemporary Resort, this fresh and casual lunch spot is only one stop away from the Magic Kingdom! Select from a range of robust sandwiches like the classic Reuben, fresh salads including the Mediterranean tuna, curry vegetarian stew and more. Make sure you try the Crème Brulee for Dessert!
3.Grand Floridian Café: The grand lobby of the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa invites you to enjoy lunch at this charming restaurant. Start of with some refreshing Chilled Shrimp and Avacodo then move on to choices like Original Cobb Salad, Rustic Chicken Sandwich or a little more adventurous like a Falafel Burger! Enjoy views of the Rose Garden while sipping a Grand Colada or sparkling wine!
2.Kona Café: This hidden gem is located steps off the monorail station inside the Lobby of the Polynesian Village Resort. The tropical ambiance surrounds you as you dine on South Seas inspired fare. Choices like Asian Noodle Bowls, Kona Surf And Turf Burger, and Grilled Steak Salad offer something for everyone. Cocktails are available as well!
1. Chef Mickey’s: Most People will agree that the best place for lunch along the monorail loop is Chef Mickey’s. Located inside the Contemporary Resort, this character restaurant just recently opened up availability for ‘brunch’. Brunch hours are 11:30 am-2:30pm so I have included it in our ‘Lunch” list! Enjoy a buffet of Classic Caesar Salads, BBQ ribs, frittatas and more while visiting with Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, and Minnie Mouse! This is a favorite among Disney -goers of all ages, it is fun and bright and the food will not disappoint! Advanced reservations are required as this is a spot that fills up very quickly!
I hope that while you are planning your trip to Walt Disney World, you and your World of Magic Travel Agent consider some of these stops along the monorail for a great dining option! They are an easy way to get out of the heat and still be able to get right back in to the park for more fun! I would love to help you plan your next visit to Walt Disney World!
