According to Highway Patrol, two buses collided in front of the Contemporary Resort hotel in Walt Disney World near the Magic Kingdom.
According to the reports, the accident occurred at 2:45 p.m. yesterday near the intersection of World Drive and Seven Seas Drive where World Drive narrows from two lanes to one. The bus in the rear failed to slow down and crashed into the bus in front. The driver of the bus causing the accident, 68-year-old Joseph Edwards of Zephyrhills, has been ticketed for careless driving. As a result of the accident, 12 of the 50 guests aboard the buses were sent to nearby hospitals.
The official statement from Disney stated: “There is nothing more important to us than the safety of our guests and cast members. We are focused on the well being of those involved and are working closely with law enforcement.”
This incident marks the second accident to take place on Disney property this month. The first occurred on July 5 when 2 monorails collided resulting in the death of cast member, Austin Wuennenburg.
