Renowned Disney Architect Passes Away

Disney building dwarfs

Michael Graves passed away at the age of 80 in Princeton N.J. He had been paralyzed from the chest down from a spinal cord infection in 2003. In case you have not heard of him, he is the amazing architect whose style you can see on the Team Disney building where it looks like the dwarfs are holding it up, as well as some Disney theme park hotels.

He also designed the Swan and Dolphin resorts. It is was supposed to look like an art deco New York building, his 1989 Disney Hotel New York at Disneyland Paris was more subtle. But wait there is more, he also designed many other prominent hotels, universities, residences, buildings, and he worked with Target.

Former Disney president Michael Eisner once said of him: “Michael Graves is an architect for whom design has no boundaries. There is no such thing as an insignificant object.”

He had an amazing life and was a great talent!

Our condolences go out to the family.

Wishing you Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

Maria
