Seaworld kicked off it’s annual Halloween Spooktacular on October 4th, and it was filled with haunted fun! I was there early to enjoy the festivities and had a blast!
The underwater FantaSEA starts off not far from the entrance to the right, and wraps around the Bayside, and Shamu Stadiums. The entrance and exit to the spooky path have stands handing out free trick-or-treat bags for your under sea adventure. The bags were cute, and able to hold quite a bit of candy.
Heading out on the path was like walking into an undersea garden. Bubbles filled the air for a watery vibe, and colorful decorations resembling seaweed, jelly fish, coral, and pumpkin fish abounded all around. Every few yards or so you could find a candy station and a character meet and greet photo op. The meet and greet characters had amazing interaction with children and adults alike, many told elaborate stories or quirky jokes to keep the kids engaged. The candy stations formed 2 lines, to keep things organized and handed out an assortment of candies including Lemonheads, Tootsie Rolls, and fruit strips.
In addition to all the wonderful character greetings, and trick or treat stations, there’s also a Penelope’s Party Zone near Bayside Stadium where the little ones can do arts and crafts, Dance with Shamu and friends, play with the dancing fountains, and also check out an interactive station all included with the price of admission.
For a small additional cost your kids can decorate their own cookie at a covered kiosk. The price is $5.50 and includes a cookie decorating kit and choice of Milk or Juice. The kit comes in an orange bag and contains a large sugar cookie, icing, and bunches of Halloween themed candies to decorate with. My son loved creating his own cookie, and used every bit of icing. He didn’t use the sprinkles though because he decided to sneak a taste of them while I was setting up the candies.
After enjoying the Fantasea path we then decided a cook off was in order and headed to the Sesame Street Countdown to Halloween stage show. I was impressed by this stage show, it was really designed to keep young toddlers and preschoolers engaged and entertained. When walking in you see the stage set up with a spooky Sesame street theme, and pumpkins dappled about featuring some of our favorite friends like the Count, Bert and Ernie. To make the wait easier on our younger attendees there’s a cute pre-show filled with some well known nursery rhymes that have been given a Halloween twist! The actual show was humorous and cute, and filled with the quality learning we’ve come to expect from Sesame Street.
This was a fantastic event, and a wonderful value since it’s included in the price of admission to Seaworld. The theming was SPOOKtacular and I loved that it was it’s own area and not spread across the entire park. We had so much fun we actually went through it twice. I can’t wait to go back next year, and the year after that, this is definitely a new family Halloween time tradition for us!
