Before we go in to why you should join the Disneyana Fan Club – let’s talk a little bit about this “secret” club that’s not so “secret” any more! The Disneyana Fan Club is THE club for Disney enthusiasts. It is made up of members from all over the world. (I want to say a quick g’day to my fellow members “down under” in Australia!) This non-profit organization is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich legacy of Walt Disney. The goal is to provide Disneyana enthusiasts of all ages from around the world with news, information, and events that enhance your experience with, and love of, all things Disney. So why haven’t you joined? Here are 7 reasons why you might want to consider it!
1) It’s a classic organization that won’t go out of style!
This is not a fad or a trend that will fade. The Disneyana Fan Club was founded 30 years ago – way back in 1984. You can be a part of this club that is truly dedicated to honoring and celebrating the people, places and things that Walt Disney and his various companies have produced – for well over 100 years now.
2) You NEED to come celebrate the 50th anniversary of Mary Poppins – and party with us at Disney World!
OK, OK…you don’t actually have to be a member for this part – but still – this is pretty awesome. December 6, 2014 you can join us as we meet in the Contemporary Hotel Grand Republic Ballroom. Jeff and Gregg Sherman – sons of the famous Sherman Brothers song writing team – will share the making of their documentary “The Boys” featuring the Sherman Brothers and Mary Poppins. Juliana Hansen, who was sought by Richard Sherman himself to sing internationally for Disney in Concert, will be on hand to premiere songs that were cut from the Mary Poppins film. There will be a dinner buffet, dessert, cash bar – and an auction to benefit charity. Tickets are $95. You have to download the form HERE and mail it in via snail mail. These will sell out SOON so don’t wait.
3) You don’t have to be a “cool kid” to join!
Of course all Disney fans are “cool kids.” But even if you think you aren’t – there’s still room for you. Is there a secret handshake, maybe a secret password, or anything else you need to know? 4) The newsletter is awesome!
Disneyana supports it’s members fascination with Disney through the publication of a member newsletter, the Disneyana Dispatch Newsletter (formerly Fantasy Line Express). The newsletter keeps you up to date on all the latest information, outings and more – and it comes directly to your mailbox. 5) It’s not just in Florida or California, there are Chapters and meetings near you!
With chapters all over the country, there is bound to be one near you. A few examples include the Grand Canyon Chapter in Arizona, the Cascade Chapter in Oregon, Land of Mickey Chapter in Illinois, Southwest British Columbia Chapter in Canada, and the Star of the North Chapter in Minnesota There’s even a brand new virtual Chapter called the Virtual Chapter available to anyone with access to the internet. 6) Opportunities to help others in need!
Disneyana Fan Club is equally dedicated to sharing Walt Disney’s artistic legacy as well as Disney magic with those in need. Through a series of charitable fund raising events, the Disneyana Fan Club helps to support inner-city arts programs and to assist families and children affected by major illness to find a little happiness at Disney parks. Several charities over the years have benefited from this awesome club.
