Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is home to a great character breakfast on Saturday mornings called “Goofy’s Beachfront Breakfast”.
Recently we took a road trip up to Vero Beach, FL to check out this little, hidden, character gem. The resort it’s self is absolutely amazing, and I was pleasantly surprised to find Walt Disney World quality magic within Shutters. The restaurant is themed in nautical fare, and is filled with seaside charm. The breakfast is a very modest price of only $16.99 in the summer months, and varies slightly depending on the season.
Donald and Goofy are the spotlights of this meal, and are dressed to the nines in beach gear. Donald sports a red Hawaiian shirt and white skimmer hat, while Goofy rocks an orange Hawaiian button down shirt, with swim trunks, and a baseball cap. The character interaction was wonderful, the characters took their time to take lots of pictures with each guest, and were even very patient with our large party. You even get an adorable themed autograph sheet that the Character Handlers make sure to get autographed by the characters before they leave your table.
You can’t have a character meal without food, and there was LOTS of food! The meal is served family style, with platters full of generous offerings of breakfast favorites. When you are seated the first thing you will notice are the cutest Mickey Mouse shaped plates. Your server then comes around to each guest and takes their drink order. There’s not as many options as the usual Character meals at the parks, but there’s still something for everyone. They had soda, coffee, tea, orange juice, apple juice, or pineapple juice to choose from. The drinks are served with paper straws, which I loved since the resort is home to many sea turtle nesting grounds. You start out with a fruit platter and some mini pastries, we were served cinnamon rolls, cheese bear claws, and fruit filled bear claws. My personal favorite was the cheese bear claws. They were very fresh and were a great addition while waiting for the main feast to arrive. The main course is a heaping platter filled with fluffy eggs, crisp bacon, juicy sausages, potato wedges, and the crown jewel Mickey Waffles. Everything was hot and perfectly cooked. You could get refills of as many things as you wanted, and our table sure kept the Mickey Waffles coming! The breakfast was very similar in taste, and style to Ohana’s Best Friends breakfast at the Polynesian Resort of Walt Disney World.
This was an incredible experience, especially when not wanting to brave the mid summer crowds of Walt Disney World, but still wanting to give my family a taste of Disney Magic. We did have to wait a bit after our reservation, however we did have a rather large party so I’m sure for a regular party it wouldn’t be bad. They did have a great waiting area for kids that had mini wicker chairs, and Mickey Cartoons playing continuously. I had heard before going that service was on the slower side, and I regret that I must agree. It seems to be a much more laid back place than the usual hustle and bustle of Walt Disney World though. I recommend every one checking out Shutter’s Character meals, during the summer months they also offer a Pirate Dinner on Monday nights. Have you been, what was your opinion of Shutters?
