Disney World is Removing Anna and Elsa’s Stand By Line

anna

According to our friends at the Temporary Tourist starting today, July 23, Disney World will be trying out a new Stand-By line for the very popular Elsa and Anna meet and greet in the Magic Kingdom. The stand by wait times have been outrageous, so Disney decided to see if they can improve the situation.  Now there is Fastpass+ but those seem to fill up out of nowhere.

The new system will start when the park opens. C.M’s  will let guests to fill the standby line till it’s full. When it is full then the the line will be considered closed. If you get there after the line is full then you will be directed to the Magic Kingdom Park Support, which will be on the other side of the Courtyard Carrousel. Each guest will get a pass with a time to comeback but it’s on a “first come first serve” basis. Each ticket will give you a 30 minute window in which to return and get in the stand by line. From the time you enter the stand by line Disney says your wait should be about 30 minutes.

A few more bits of info:

  • The testing period will go from July 23 to the 25th.
  • Fastpass+ will still work like usual
  • ADisney will only be handing out 80 passes per hour for the entire testing day. Once they are all passed out then that is it and no more guests will be allowed to get in line. Remember Fastpass+ is not included in this. That is totally separate and will still work the same way like usual.
  • They will also be testing this same system out for some other attractions, like Soarin’, the other one is not known.

What do you think?

  1. I was there yesterday, it worked out great. Got the at around 9:15 or so they game me a ticket to come back at 11:30 to 12. Waited about 30 minutes. I’m happy , kids happy. Good job Disney .

  2. I understand that the lines are getting out of control, but with this system, we may not have been able to see Anna & Elsa at all during our visit to Magic Kingdom last month. The lines were over 2 hours within 30 minutes of opening, so we came back later and waited over an hour. My daughter would have been heartbroken if we hadn’t seen Anna & Elsa.

  3. When we were there in June, they had a line on the left to see two princesses, such as Aurora and Cinderella, and a line on the right to see Anna & Elsa.

  4. I believe Anna and Elsa are no longer with Sleeping Beauty – they moved her out and it is just those two meeting separate not together.

  5. I would rather see them move Sleeping Beauty to another location and add a second meet and greet area. This would double the number of guests meeting Elsa and Anna. Otherwise, you are just shuffling the same lines.

  6. Ok…so then there will be lines waiting for the release of the tickets to come back later to get in the line? Where are those people going to queue up? This is crazy!! So thankful I don’t have a princess…

  7. When we went to Hollywood we got a card to come back to the Pirates of Caribbean thing…is it kinda like that I’m guessing? not to bad…that way you can go do other things…but really they should only count the people who want to get in the photo. my girls were in the photos of all characters but me and my mom were just there to hold bags and take our own photos. those people shouldn’t count in the passes in my opinion.
