Are you ready to “Rock Your Disney Side”? If you’re like me, you’re already planning on visiting the Magic Kingdom at Disney World on May 23 & 24, 2014 for this extra magical event. Having been last year for the Monstrous Summer kick-off, I have to say that Disney sure does this 24 hour park experience right. The Magic Kingdom park will be open 6 a.m. to 6 a.m. for an entire 24 hours! This year’s theme is all about pirates, princesses, villains and more!
Having been last year, I wasn’t fully prepared for all of the excitement; here are some tips to help make your 24 hour Magic Kingdom experience as rockin’ as possible!
Plan for Crowds: Attending for the first time last year, I did not anticipate the large amount of crowds in the Magic Kingdom during peak times. It took my group 30 minutes to get from the Rose Garden to the Plaza Restaurant! Prepare for high attendance and large crowds. The hub gets extraordinarily busy, so take advantage of alternate park exits that are often open when high attendance occurs.
Utilize Fastpass+: Think strategically when you go. Use those Fastpass+’s for peak times when the park may be at its busiest. 5 a.m. is not the time to bust out a Fastpass+ for Space Mountain!
Take Breaks: There’s no rule that says you have to party till you drop (of course, you can if you want to!). Head to the park early , take an afternoon break or nap and then head back to the Magic Kingdom rested and ready to go another round! You’ll be glad you took that afternoon nap or time back at your resort.
Make Dining Reservations: If you plan on any table service dining experiences make sure to book those ADRs. Walk-ups during peak times won’t be available, so it will be important to have those reservations booked well in advance. Planning on quick service for meal options? Give yourself ample time to get to those locations and plan for extra wait times…just in case!
Enjoy the Rockin’ Experiences: There’s so much to see and do during the 24 hour events at Disney. You’ll want to look for special character meet-ups, dance parties, parades, fireworks, and even a meetup from our very own Chip & Co. (make sure to signup on the Disney Addicts Facebook page).
Get Merchandise Early: Limited edition merchandise for the 24 hour event sells out pretty quickly. If you have a certain item you simply must have, try to get in lines for merchandise early. There may be a wait, but you’ll be sure to get that rockin’ gear you want.
Utilize a Vacation Planner: Destinations in Florida is Chip & Co’s travel partner. You’ll want to take advantage of all that the vacation planners can do to make sure your travel experience is extra magical. From assisting you will all your travel planning needs to great rates, you’ll want to take advantage of their expertise.
