Aloha ladies and gents!! I like to change my greeting from time to time just to keep you on your toes. Expedition Everest fans will not like what I have heard rumbling around. The Yeti may soon be gone. For those of you wondering the part of the Yeti will now be played by Chiperoo. No I am kidding, or am I?
I have been hearing for a while now about problems they were having with the Yeti but I never thought they would consider removing it. I think the Yeti makes the ride. That being said I should disclose that I have never been on that ride, but I have watched a ride through on Youtube. I know it’s not the same but hey I do what I can.
I was told that the Yeti, who is a girl I hear, is apparently to heavy for the foundation of the ride. She shakes violently and it’s to much for the structure and it’s cracking underneath. I thought maybe they should make a smaller version of the Yeti, but hey who knows.
What do you think about the Yeti possibly being removed?

I guess I was one of the lucky ones that have actually seen the yeti in full motion.
I rode this two years ago, and the Yeti wasn’t working. I don’t recall even the strobe light. Rode it this past April, twice, and saw the Yeti both times, but only saw him/her/it moving once. Honestly, they could remove it, and keep the video/shadow effects, and it would still work. Sometimes, the scarier creatures are the ones you never actually see.
Interesting, because I watched a program on the building of Expedition Everest that showed the mountain, the ride, and the Yeti were built as three separate structures to compensate for the different stresses caused by the motion of each.
Were your eyes closed?
We love the Yeti. It’s right at the end of the ride when you go through the dark tunnel. I hope they put something there in place of it!
I think the bigger news is that Anonymouse has never been on the ride! 😉 Do you suffer from coasterphobia?
As many times as I’ve been on the ride (at least 5), I’ve never seen the Yeti.
The ride is so exciting that actually the Yeti was second place. Just a shadowy illusion is fine.
I have only gotten to ride once, and I just saw the shadow… I hope they at least keep the shadow.
Interesting. In the 15 or 20 times I have ridden Everest I have never actually seen the live action Yeti (to your point). I always get the disco Yeti (when live action Yeti is not working–which is most of the time–they leave the creature standing still but blast it with a strobe light to give some movement effects). My guess would be that they do away with the live action version and stick with a strobe-light Yeti. I cannot see how they would remove Yeti, since the entire concept (and queue) is built around it. But you never know what those crafty Imagineers will come up with(!)
