Disney’s New Series “Esmeralda” Comes to ABC

Esmeralda Animated

Disney and ABC are developing a show called Esmeralda, which is inspired by the story of The Hunchback of Notre Dame through the eyes of the gypsy.

Disney’s original animated classic  “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” was originally released in 1996. The original movie featured voice work by Demi Moore and Kevin Kline, no casting announcements have yet been made for the new Esmeralda.

Not sure how I feel about this. What do you think?

  1. I am not sure about how the series will turn out, but I do know I would love to see Esmeralda in a show where kids can learn who she is. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is an amazing movie but not many kids have seen it because the plot is more of an adult theme. I do believe Esmeralda deserves some recognition though!

  2. I’ll be honest…I don’t know how I feel about the series because the film is a very happy (unrealistic) depiction of the book (but I always prefer the film). So the question would be, would they choose to begin the storyline way before where the film starts off?
