Disney Dream sails under her own power for the first time

The Disney Dream, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, sails under her own power in open water Nov. 13, 2010 on the edge of the North Sea in The Netherlands. After departing Nov. 12, 2010 from the Papenburg, Germany shipyard where it was built, the ship was tugged 26 miles down the River Ems during a 12-hour journey.

The 128,000-ton, 1,115-foot vessel arrived Nov. 13, 2010 in Eemshaven to begin sea trials. The Disney Dream will sail her maiden voyage on Jan. 26, 2011 from her home port, Port Canaveral, Fla. The largest Disney Cruise Line ship ever built, the Disney Dream will accommodate 4,000 passengers and 1,458 crew members.
