I sat down to watch this classic Christmas tale this past weekend. Having missed it in theaters last year I was really looking forward to seeing it! The portrayal of Ebeneser Scrooge is spot on. Jim Carrey really portrays Scrooge as a mean, old, money grubbing grouch.
I was thinking my daughter would be able to watch this but there are several scenes that would really frighten a small child under 6 or 7. I am glad I checked this out with my wife first.
You can clearly tell this movie was made for 3D and I wish I could have seen it at the theater in 3D. There are several scenes that would be perfect in 3D on the big screen. One that comes to mind is the scene with the Ghost of Christmas Present. The 3-D film was produced through the process of performance capture, a technique Robert Zemeckis has previously used in his films The Polar Express and Beowulf.
The only complaint I have with the movie is the ending. It kinda seems rushed. I would liked to have seen Scrooge with Tiny Tim or visiting Cratchit’s family.
This is probably one of the closest adaptations to Charles Dickens‘ 1843 novel, A Christmas Carol, I have seen.
Overall I would say this is a really good movie. Something I will defiantly be adding to my Christmas movie watching. I will be adding this to the rotation of A Christmas Story, and Jim Carrey‘s How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
If Disney ever releases it back to theaters in 3D or if I ever take the plunge to get a 3D TV this will be one of the first movies I will be watching.
If you love Christmas movies and Polar Express, this is one you will want to add to your library. Let me know what you thought of this movie in the comment section below.

I agree… some parts are a bit intense. Saw it in the theater with my eleven year-old and he did okay, but the little ones around us were a bit upset.
I also agree that the ending seemed rushed… they could’ve cut some of that extended Ghost of Christmas Future chase scene, don’t you think?
Anyway, Jim Carrey was awesome as Scrooge. This movie was head-and-shoulders above The Grinch!! ((Shudder))
