ID Requirements to Buy Alcohol Changing at Disney World

glowing_drink

ID requirements to buy alcohol at Disney World have changed (or are now being enforced). You must have an acceptable form of ID with you if you plan on purchasing alcoholic beverages on Disney property, doesn’t matter if you are 21 or 61 everyone must have their ID if they want to drink.

The following is a list of acceptable forms of ID:

  • U.S. Issued Driver’s License
  • U.S. Military ID
  • Passport – not a copy on the original will be accepted.
  • Copy of your passport only with a Government issued photo ID that states your birthday

If you don’t have any of these, be prepared to be denied!

I noticed that a Government issued State ID (non-drivers license) is not on the list, but from what I found out, that is also an acceptable form of ID. I am sure they know that not everyone drives. Just double check before you go to be sure.

Do you already bring your Wallet/ID with you in the parks, or have you always left it back in the room? Let us know in the comment box below.

  1. I’ve been buying alcohol at Disney since I was 21…and have YET to be carded..it’s kind of crazy! I always always carry my Id with my though or make my hubby carry it in his wallet…no changes for us 🙂

  2. As an Aussie this going to be totally annoying. I guess no more drinking at Disney, as there’s no way I’m carting around my passport. Not so much if it get’s stolen, but what if it gets wet or damaged? or someone steals my bag? no thanks! I always carry aditional IT (like my Australian Drivers License), which has never been a problem in the past)

  3. I feel sorry for the bartenders, some people think they are being singled out if they are obviously well over 21 and get downright nasty when asked to prove it. I talked to a cashier at Whole Foods who said that a man threw his at her after arguing with her.
At 55, I see it as a compliment, even if they ask everyone. Also I bet a lot of people don’t even carry ID at Disney World. I have an extra copy of my Driver’s License that I keep in my Disney lanyard at all times, even at home.

  4. I find it hard for Canadians because we are sometimes refused when we show our health issurance card and or our drivers licence, both ID’s are government issued with photos on. Don’t get me wrong I do like them asking for IDs but they should also accept these IDs.

  5. I have never been carded for alcohol at WDW, but I always have my ID because you need it to get an AP discount.

  6. I’ve always been carded when buying alcohol, but I guess I am on the younger end of things. I would bring my ID regardless though.

  7. I’m not really a drinker so this isn’t a problem for me but I can see this effecting a lot of international guests because when you ar in a foriegn country the last thing you do is walk around with your passport in your back pocket.

  8. For $25 additional, you can get a passport CARD along with the actual passport. Perfect for these situations as its the same size as a drivers license and not as big a deal if you lose it. Works perfect for me everywhere.

  9. I’m glad they are finally enforcing this everywhere, when I worked at Planet Hollywood for a short time as a new trainee I always asked for a US ID or passport and on quite a few occasions had customers make a huge scene in the restaurant when I was just following policy and wouldn’t serve them because “everyone else around the parks serves me no problem, but you harass me”.

  10. I have a over the shoulder little purse I take with me. harder for someone to snag on the run and has a HUGE flap so no easy little put the hand in and see what comes out trick either. and you know what the best part? Its got Jack Skellington on it! LOL

  11. Isnt this normal policy? Last year at Disneyland I tried to buy a Margarita with my Canadian drivers license. I had watched others in front of me use theirs. I was 32 at the time but I guess looked young as they denied me and said only if I had my passport would they accept it.

  12. Not a problem, since my I.D. is AlWAYS with me, except when I’m at the waterparks, where it is in the locker I rent.

  13. I HATE carrying my passport with me ever since my friend had his bag stolen. So no more drinks for me at wdw if my Ontario id isn’t good enough for them. I had this happen to me when I was trying to get into the Atlantic dance hall she wouldn’t accept my gov’t id had to be my passport.

  14. This is not a problem for me, because i always carry my wallet and ID. But my wife doesn’t always. Looks like I’ll be carrying her ID too.
