Since Walt Disney World has released two new discount this week, we have all been crunching numbers. Free Dining versus Room Discount, or Free Dining and Room Discount (split vacations), which works better for my vacation dates?
One discount that stays pretty consistent is the Annual Passholder discount. Room discounts of up to 35% off are now available for selected nights for stays August 16 through September 26, 2013. Book by 9/26/13. Not all resorts available for all dates.
Proof of valid Adult Passholder ID required at check-in. Additional per-adult charges apply for more than two adults per room.
Annual passes can be bought at any time, but not activated until the first time that you use them.
I bought mine months ago, but they don’t “start” until my September vacation.
TICKET BENEFITS
Passholders and their guests (up to 2 guests per visit) can get special savings of $4 off adult admission (ages 10 and up) and $3 off child admission (ages 3-9) at the following places:
- DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park
- Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
- Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
Specially Ticketed Events at the Magic Kingdom Park – Watch for discounts on “Day Of” admission price for the following special ticket events at the Magic Kingdom Park:
Discount is only available on selected nights, based on a limited availability, and does not apply to “Advance Sales” admission price for these special ticket events. The Passholder may purchase up to a total of four discount tickets. The discount is available on select nights and is based on availability. Proof of valid Passholder I.D. required at time of pickup.
AMC Theatres Pleasure Island 24 – Receive $2 off adult evening admission price. Offer is valid for the Passholder only and not valid with any other offer or discount.
Disney Dining
Annual Pass holders receive a 10% discount during various meal periods at select Walt Disney World Resort Table-Service locations. Reserve online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463, unless otherwise noted.

While the annual pass is expensive, if you make the trek multiple times throughout the year you will actually come out in the positive and the pass would practically pay for itself. The annual pass doesnt work for my travel plans but it does save people some money
Paula, I think you are confused. This post is about an annual pass. If you were going just for Star Wars Weekends you wouldn’t need an annual pass.
The annual pass IS expensive, but not if you can go more than once within a year. If you can go more than enough to ‘break even’ its a huge savings. If you are only going once, you wouldn’t buy it. As for the tickets, the ‘cost per day’ drops significantly the longer you stay. Yes, a one day adult pass is nearly $100 but a 5 day adult pass is less than $300.
If you’re on a budget, look for promotions and go off season, like the free dining plan that is offered.
My husband and I went in December 2012, before the holiday rush when kids get out of school. Not counting souvenirs or gas to get there, the trip cost approx. $200 per day for the two of us for EVERYTHING else – hotel, tickets & food for seven nights and six full days in the parks. We ate extremely well (that included one table service meal,one quick service and one snack per day) We brought in our own water bottles and opted for bottled water instead of soda with our quick service lunches to give us an extra two bottles to drink each day. Since it wasn’t hot, we didn’t find ourselves chugging it constantly, but any quick service restaurant will give you a cup of ice water for free.
Don’t forget: WDW does allow carry-in’s. You can bring your own water/softdrinks and food, too. We take advantage of ever opportunity we can to save on expenses.
My roommate and I are about to get our 7th annual Pass to Walt Disney World. We get the annual pass to the four parks, since my roommate is disabled and doesn’t enjoy the waterparks as much as I do. I DO enjoy the discounts with merchandise and the restaurants. I just wish more places to eat were on the list that take the discount. I also miss the perks that Passholders used to get. I have 2 of the Passholder t-shirts and even got one for my talking Mickey that I used to take to the parks and hear about the attractions. I wonder if my Mickey still talks back, if I take him to the parks?
I am going to WDW from 9/27 to 10/5/13 and was wondering when are the passholder special coming out. They should of been out already. I am starting to get worried. I really need the discount. Keeping my fingers crossed.
they should discount the cost of a pass. once i wanted to stay for all of star wars weekends and needed a pass and being from out of the state it was over $500 for a pass. I cant afford to go at all now for even a day with it over a hundred dollars a day. Shame on u Disney. when people have it so rough u should be lowering your prices ALOT!!! if it was $45 a day with a family of four u would still make hundreds on food and drink. we spent a fortune on drinks. its insane that water is like $3.50!!!! no way can i afford it now just went thru a divorce no job…
