Disney Store celebrated the opening of two newly designed stores in Southern California bringing the total to four stores boasting the new design concept in Southern California. The new Disney Store locations opening in San Diego’s Fashion Valley Mall on September 14 and The Shops at Mission Viejo in Mission Viejo on September 21 offer one-of-a-kind, interactive and magical experiences for Disney fans of all ages. To mark the celebration and thank the hundreds of enthusiastic guests present, Disney Store premiered its new and exclusive limited edition “Beauty and the Beast” inspired collection for the first time to members of D23, Disney’s official fan club.
Guests were also surprised by a special appearance by Paige O’Hara, the voice of Belle, and enjoyed clips of “Beauty and the Beast” playing in the Disney Store Theatre. Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD on October 5.
“My first visit to one of the newly designed Disney Stores reminded me once again of the magic of Disney,” said O’Hara. “It was exciting to meet fans who love the timeless story and classic characters in Beauty and the Beast.”
“The magic and wonder of Disney is captured within the unique experiences that await families at the newly designed Disney Store,” said Paul Gainer, vice president and general manager of Disney Store North America. “More than a store, we’ve created a destination that brings Disney stories to life — with the wave of Belle’s wand in our Disney Princess Castle’s Magic Mirror a child becomes part of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and can bring a part of that story home through our unique and limited edition products.”
Disney Store artists and designers created only 1,600 Mrs. Potts bone china teapot sets trimmed in 24 karat gold, 1,500 Cogsworth clocks, and 2,000 Lumiere candlesticks each inspired by the beloved Disney characters. Each item is packaged in a specially designed deluxe box lined in royal blue satin. The hand-crafted collectibles are limited to a worldwide edition and are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. A limited number of items were made available at Disney Store in Fashion Valley on September 14 and will be available for pre-order at DisneyStore.com beginning September 22.
The San Diego and Mission Viejo stores join the growing list of newly designed stores already opened around the world including locations in Montebello, CA; Garden City, NY; Santa Monica, CA; Madrid, Spain; Porto, Portugal; Bergamo, Italy; Belfast, Ireland; and Aberdeen, Scotland.
With each new store opening in 2010, Disney Store will select a day to donate 10 percent of sales to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the United States.
