It’s official: Mark Ruffalo is Bruce Banner.
Last night at Marvel Studios’ presentation in San Diego Comic-Con’s mammoth Hall H, producer Kevin Feige brought the actor onstage with the rest of the cast for “Marvel Studios’ The Avengers” as well as the film’s director, Joss Whedon.
The award-winning actor will Hulk-out in director Joss Whedon’s “Marvel Studios’ The Avengers,” alongside Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson). The film opens on May 4, 2012.
One of the original Avengers in the Marvel Comics universe, the Incredible Hulk has had a long association with the team both as ally and enemy. Bruce Banner has always struggled to contain the monster inside himself, though whether or not he’ll succeed this time out is anyone’s guess. As for what role he’ll play in “Marvel Studios’ The Avengers,” well, we can’t give everything away all at once! But you can probably count on at least a little smashing being involved.
