Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove sets the gold standard with a magical medley of Disney tales in one jam-packed ice show that commemorates the legacy of Disney animated films. Treasure Trove is one of the many Disney On Ice shows touring the US right now. If it hasn’t made it to your area it will soon.
On Sunday, February 24, 2013 the Treasure Trove made its way into my city and with two Disney loving little boys they were ready. I groaned at the thought of spending money on another ice show that was directly mostly to the princess. We put on our mouse ears and attended the 1:00 PM show. Tickets start around $16.00 and go up. Much to my disappointment floor and VIP were sold out so we got 100 section tickets for a reasonable amount and a good view. Then as you enter let all the cool light ups and special pop corn buckets begin. This show had popular music that is on the radio today, the traditional stories of Disney, stunning skating, and great special effects. At the end of all of it I must say this has been one of my favorite Disney on Ice shows to date. I say this being a mom of two boys I thought it was a great balance for boys and girls and makes the whole family have a wonderful time. It was a show that transports families on a journey they’ll never forget. This show tells great Disney stories and brings families together to create wonderful memories.
They have an interactive pre-warm -up show that includes running in place with Dash and pumping iron with Mr. Incredible. Then the fab 5 come out looking for treasure seekers and on the journey you go. You will take a whirl through Wonderland with Alice as she frolics with her friends. Watch out for the Queen of Hearts’ two sided playing cards and their snappy skating skills that leave you trying to decide which way to go. Great timing as the re-release of Peter Pan is out because your next stop is Never Land. Witness the thrill of Peter Pan and Tinker Bell’s amazing acrobatic stunts as they fly around the arena. Then, cheer ad Peter matches wits with crafty Captain Hook. We also can’t forget about good ole Tick Toc Crock who makes appearances. Then it is Hakuna Matata time as they retell the story of the Lion King. Fab 5 come out again to talk about Walt and his very first animated film, Snow White. Then you fall in love all over again watching the drama of the apple, the kiss, and of course dopey on ice. Aladdin discovers that an old lamp can be a treasure in disguise. His friend genie is their to help him woo Princess Jasmie and you can’t forget the high flying magic carpet ride. Ariel and Sebastian dance up a storm under the sea and it will get you up dancing in your seat. High Overhead, the Floating Lanterns gleam as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider discover the biggest adventure of all-finding true love. Then Tiana and Naveen have broken the spell and now they dance into their future. Then the finale with some of your favorite characters, music, and of course Disney Magic.
The Creative Team include Producer, Patricia Vincent: Creative Director and Writer, Jerry Bilik: Choreographer, Cindy Stuart: production Designer, Jim Youmans: Lighting Designer, Jesse Blevins: Music Director, David Killinger: Associate Choreographer, Doug Webster and of course Producers and Sisters, Nicole and Juliette Feld. The Feld sister first challenge was choosing the Disney moments to portray from an array that spanned 50 films. They went into the Disney vault with the goal of selecting scenes that resonated with kids and parents today and which lend themselves to the athleticism and grace of ice skating.
Whether you have boys or girls this is truly a wonderful family show. If it hasn’t made its way to your city it will and be ready to order your tickets because they go fast. I had a blast with my boys and I am sure your family will have a blast also. I would love to hear if you enjoyed the show or what other Disney on Ice show is your favorite.
