8 Year Old Burn Victim Gets a Surprise Trip to Disney World

8-year-old Safyre Terry suffered disfiguring burns and lost her family in a 2013 arson related fire. A photo posted on Facebook asked people to send her enough Christmas cards to fill her Christmas tree but she has received so much more. She has since received thousands of gifts and cards and a crowd funding site has collected more than $300,000 for her and she has been given an all expense paid week-long trip to Disney World!!!

Safyre’s aunt, Liz Dodler, posted about the trip on a facebook page that she maintains and gives updates on Safyre’s progress. Since the fire sadly she has lost her right hand and left foot. She has needed over 50 surgeries to graft skin over her burns.

The trip is being sponsored by Baking Memories 4 Kids. They are a non-profit group that gives week-long trips to children with terminal and life threatening illnesses. The New York State Police, the Schenectady Police Department, and the ATF, all of which helped investigate the fire, will help present the trip to Safyre and her family.
