Eight Disneyland attractions will be temporarily closing for standard seasonal refurbishments, coinciding with the heart of the popular Halloween season.
The attractions scheduled for temporary closure in October at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure include: It’s a Small World, King Arthur Carrousel, Goofy’s Sky School, Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, Sailing Ship Columbia, “Mickey’s PhilharMagic,” Pixie Hollow, and “Fantasmic.”

These eight new attraction closures join four other experiences already shuttered for refurbishment, bringing the total closure list to twelve. The attractions previously closed include Big Thunder Mountain, Storybook Land Canal Boats, Casey Jr. Circus Train, and “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.”
The Goofy’s Sky School wild mouse roller coaster in Disney California Adventure’s (DCA) Paradise Gardens closed in late September for a weeklong refurbishment that will run through October 4th. Over in Disneyland’s Bayou Country, Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes is currently closed through Thursday, October 2nd, and is scheduled to close for seasonal refurbishment two more times this month: October 6th–9th and October 13th–16th.

Traffic on the Rivers of America will be disrupted with the Sailing Ship Columbia out of commission on October 1st-2nd, October 6th-9th, and October 13th-16th. In Disney California Adventure (DCA), the “Mickey’s PhilharMagic” 3D concert film will be closed from October 6th–30th for a nearly four-week refurbishment. Meanwhile, the King Arthur Carrousel in Disneyland’s Fantasyland will be closed for a single day of minor refurbishment on October 7th.

The It’s a Small World boat ride in Fantasyland will close from October 31st through November 13th for its annual holiday overlay. The “Fantasmic!” nighttime spectacular on the Rivers of America will be dark on October 1st-2nd, 6th-9th, 13th-16th, 20th-23rd, and 27th-30th. In Fantasyland, Pixie Hollow will be closed on all Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout October (October 2nd, 7th, 9th, 14th, 16th, 21st, 23rd, 28th, and 30th) following its recent 10-month refurbishment.

The Big Thunder Mountain roller coaster in Disneyland’s Frontierland has been closed since September 2nd for an extended refurbishment that is expected to continue through at least November 11th.
In Fantasyland, the Storybook Land Canal Boats and Casey Jr. Circus Train will also remain closed through at least November 11th, continuing a refurbishment that began in July. Additionally, the “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln”show, which has been closed since April, is not expected to return until the fall of 2026, after the conclusion of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration.
During its initial run, the new show “Walt Disney — A Magical Life” will play by itself in the Main Street Opera House, before eventually rotating with the “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” show.
