3 New Star Wars Movie Announcements Expected Next Month
Lucasfilm is set to announce three new film projects during Star Wars Celebration in London next month. There has been a small drought of films from the Star Wars universe since the last release The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. Star Wars is currently thriving on the small screen on Disney+ courtesy of The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and The Book of Boba Fett. Lucasfilm has more planned for Disney+ with Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew on it’s way, but theaters are currently dark.
Kathleen Kennedy and her team look to change all that in the coming weeks. Lucasfilm has been trying to jumpstart the next era of films but has yet to get any projects into production. Films by Kevin Feige, Patty Jenkins, and Rian Johnson have fallen by the wayside.

Without a film in theaters, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy could be out of a job. There have been talks of a film from Taika Waititi. Another project from Peaky Blinders‘ Stephen Knight is another potential candidate. We will have to wait and see for Star Wars Celebration to see if Lucasfilm can deliver a new film by Christmas of 2025. What are your thoughts on any upcoming Star Wars films?
