The 2019 runDisney season is almost over, with Wine and Dine Weekend just around the corner at Walt Disney World Resort, which means the 2020 race season is almost here. With that being said, there are some changes coming to the 2020 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Presented by Cigna, January 8-12, 2020, for runners and spectators.
The first of the exciting changes are to the Walt Disney World Marathon course. Runners will spend more time inside Epcot, and will also be running through Blizzard Beach Water Park and spending less time on the roads outside the parks. The marathon will also start 30 minutes earlier than previous years at 5:00 am.
Also for runners, there will be a new exclusive area where runners can take photos, stretch, pick up their gear, and recover. For spectators, the ChEAR Squad packages will now offer access to the finish line, a Magic Kingdom viewing location, as well as other amenities, but will not include access to the open-air runner experience.
As the races draw nearer, more details will be announced for the new ChEAR Squad packages and open-air runner area as well as the on-sale date. All races, except the one-mile kid race, still have availability, so make sure to sign up here.
