Prince of Persia Soundtrack Featuring Alanis Morissette Available May 25

Walt Disney Records will release the original soundtrack for Walt Disney Pictures’ and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME on May 25, 2010.  The recording features an epic, romantic sweeping original score written by award-winning composer Harry Gregson-Williams and an end credit song performed by multiple Grammy® Award-winner Alanis Morissette (“I Remain”).  PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME hits theaters Memorial Day Weekend, 2010.

Canadian-born singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette wrote and performed the soundtrack’s end credit song “I Remain,” which serves as the film’s end title track.  Said Morissette of the song: “It’s an honor to write from the voice of an empowered princess about a love that empowers them both to new heights, healing and consciousness. The song wrote itself and this story was the ultimate muse.”   “I Remain” was co-written with Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Eminem, Maroon 5, Mary J. Blige, Nelly Furtado), who also produced the track.  Elizondo also produced the Alanis Morissette-penned track “Wunderkind,” from “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” film and soundtrack. Morissette has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide, earned 12 Canadian Juno Awards, 8 Grammy® Awards and also received an additional 14 Grammy® nominations.

Harry Gregson-Williams is one of Hollywood’s most sought after composers, working on a variety of high-profile projects, both animated and live-action.  Gregson-Williams composed the music for “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” and “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” for which he collected Golden Globe and Grammy nominations for his score. He also received a BAFTA Award nomination and won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Score, as well as an Annie Award, for the blockbuster animated feature “Shrek.”  Spanning a 14 year relationship, Gregson-Williams has composed for various Jerry Bruckheimer projects including, “The Rock,”  “Armageddon,” “Enemy of the State,”  “Veronica Guerin” and “Déjà Vu.”  His numerous feature film credits have included “Shrek 2,” “Shrek the Third,” the upcoming “Shrek Forever After,” “Gone Baby Gone,” “Man on Fire,”  “Domino,” “Spy Game,” “Kingdom of Heaven,” “X-Men Origins:  Wolverine,” and “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3,”  among others.

For his score, which was recorded at the historic Abbey Road in London, Gregson-Williams utilized a broad sonic spectrum including a 77-piece orchestra, a choir of 32 vocalists as well as a variety of ethnic instruments.   “Having the opportunity to create a score for a large scale adventure like PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME is an amazing opportunity,” stated Gregson-Williams. “The film presented a musical canvas of epic proportions, lending itself to a wide range of symphonic possibilities including romantic melodies and heroic themes beautifully brought to life by our orchestra and chorus.”
