When thinking of Epcot, many people generally think of World Showcase. With pavilions representing 11 countries, this area has a lot to offer from Norwegian boat rides to Japanese candy art and other cuisine from around the world. However, World Showcase usually opens a couple hours later than the rest of the park. So, what can you do to experience the fun of Epcot prior to the opening of World Showcase?
Future World at Epcot offers many great attractions which are available for you to experience before World Showcase opens. In Future World East, you will find attractions such as Spaceship Earth, Mission: Space, and Test Track.
The Spaceship Earth attraction is a ride actually located inside the park’s icon! This attraction provides an educational, yet entertaining look at the history of communication throughout the world.
Mission: Space is a thrilling ride in which guest blast off on a mission to Mars. Guests may join one of the two teams offered, the more intense Orange Team or the less intense Green Team. If you are prone to motion sickness, avoid joining the Orange Team. The Green Team offers the same experience but does not spin.
The newly refurbished Test Track is another great Future World attraction. After creating a custom concept car, guests will board a simulation car to evaluate the vehicle’s performance. Along the test drive, vehicles will reach thrilling speeds of up to 65 mph.
Future World West also has plenty of attractions to experience before the opening of World Showcase. In Future World West, you will find The Seas With Nemo & Friends, The Land pavilion, and the Imagination! pavilion.
The Seas With Nemo & Friends offers two great attractions to experience with little ones. The main attraction, The Seas With Nemo & Friends, allows guests to board a “clamobile” to journey through the seas to find Nemo. Turtle Talk With Crush is another attraction which can be found at The Seas With Nemo & Friends. In this attraction, Crush uses a “hydrophone” to communicate with guests sitting in the “human tank.”
Located inside The Land, guests will find more wonderful Epcot attractions. Soarin’ provides an exhilarating flight over California. As you hang glide over the Golden State, you will even be able to smell what you are seeing! Living With The Land is a fascinating boat ride in which guests will learn about innovations in food production while traveling through Disney’s greenhouses and a fish farm.
At the Imagination! pavilion, guests can take a journey with a lovable dragon named Figment and rescue the planet with Captain EO. Young children will enjoy learning about the five senses with the mischevious Figment on Journey Into Imagination With Figment. Captain EO is a 3D film in which Captain EO, played by Michael Jackson, must use his dance moves and catchy songs to triumph over the forces of darkness. The film features fabulous choreography and original songs written by Michael Jackson.
With so many wonderful attractions in Future World, you will be sure to find plenty of Disney magic to experience prior to the opening of World Showcase. Do you have a favorite attraction to visit before World Showcase opens at Epcot? Let us know in the comments below!

We always go clockwise too! I think it’s because Norway and Mexico are my favorite pavilions. It’s funny…pretty much everyone I’ve talked to about World Showcase says they go clockwise too!
Test Track and Soarin. Oh and we always go clockwise through World Showcase, we just can’t go the other way.
