Many of Walt Disney’s personal items as well as items from the Walt Disney Studios are set to be auctioned off July 7th. Van Eaton Galleries will present “A Brief History of the Walt Disney Studios”, an Exhibition and Auction. Guests will be able to learn all about the events and individuals of the Walt Disney Studios and see what it took to create those magical theme parks. Items that will be on the auction block include personal memorabilia from Walt Disney’s early life such as a stock certificate for Walt’s animation company “Laugh-O-Gram” Studios. There will also be one of Walt’s personal business cards from Oswald cartoons.
There will also be furniture listed in the auction such as animators’ desks. Artwork from the 1920’s and afterwards will be auctioned as well. “This remarkable auction contains nearly 600 items, and represents almost 100 years of creativity and imagination from the mind of Walt Disney and the employees of the Walt Disney Studios.”
Van Eaton Galleries is located in Sherman Oaks, California. The auction catalog is now available for preorder and shipping is set to begin this week. You can order a soft cover catalog for $30 or a hard cover for $95. A public exhibition is going on now through July 6th from 10am to 5pm Tuesdays through Saturdays and 12pm to 4pm on Sundays. The auction will begin on July 7th at 11am PST.
