Guests onboard Walt Disney World’s Monorail Red on Sunday got a bit of a surprise when the monorail left the station at the Transportation and Ticket Center on its way to Epcot with its doors still open.
Check out this video by a passenger on this slightly scary journey:
Each of the monorail cars comes equipped with door sensors that signal to the driver if any of the doors have not be shut completely before departure. However, it would appear in this case that this system failed potentially putting passengers at risk.
Thankfully no one in this carriage was injured during the trip.
As an additional safety precaution, each of the monorail cars also has a phone available to alert Cast Members of any potential problems. However, this is another system that doesn’t appear to have been operational during this particular journey.
Details are still trickling in regarding what could have caused this mishap. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with Chip and Co. for the latest updates.
